These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of LyricTribe ("we", "us", or "our"), accessible at lyricstribe.com (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

One-line summary: read lyrics, leave thoughtful comments, don't break the law, don't scrape us. We own the editorial writing; the underlying songs belong to their rightful copyright holders.

Acceptance & eligibility

By accessing or using the Site you confirm that:

  • You are at least 13 years old (16 in the European Economic Area, UK, or wherever local law requires a higher age of consent for online services).
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction.
  • You will use the Site in compliance with all applicable laws and these Terms.

If you're under the relevant age, please don't use the Site. If you're using the Site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

The service we provide

LyricTribe is a free, ad-supported reference site for song lyrics. We publish:

  • Song lyrics — in the original native script, romanised transliteration, and English translation where available, presented for educational and personal reference use under fair-use principles.
  • Editorial commentary — bio, behind-the-song notes, meaning interpretations, FAQ, credits, written by our editorial team.
  • Music news, features, and roundups — published on the LyricTribe blog.

We may change, suspend, add to, or discontinue parts of the Site at any time. We try to give meaningful notice for material changes but can't always.

User accounts

Most of the Site can be read without an account. If you create an account (for example to comment or contribute lyrics) you are responsible for:

  • Keeping your login credentials confidential.
  • All activity that happens under your account.
  • Telling us immediately at editor@lyricstribe.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms — see the Termination section below.

User-generated content

"User-generated content" means anything you submit to the Site: comments, lyric submissions, contact-form messages, corrections, or anything else you contribute.

Your responsibilities

You promise that the content you submit:

  • Is yours to submit, or you have permission from the rightful owner.
  • Does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
  • Is not unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise prohibited (see Acceptable use below).
  • Is accurate to the best of your knowledge — particularly for lyric submissions and corrections.

The licence you grant us

By submitting content, you grant LyricTribe a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, transferable, sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, edit, publish, translate, and distribute that content on the Site and in connection with promoting the Site. You retain ownership; you're giving us permission to publish.

You waive any moral rights to the extent permitted by law, so we can edit your submissions for clarity, grammar, formatting, or to comply with these Terms.

Our editorial discretion

We are under no obligation to publish any content you submit. We may edit, refuse, or remove any content at any time, for any reason, without notice.

Acceptable use

When using the Site you agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
  • Post or transmit content that is defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, obscene, or sexually explicit.
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any other malicious code.
  • Use any automated system (bot, scraper, spider, crawler) to access, copy, or extract content from the Site, except for public search-engine indexing that respects our robots.txt.
  • Reproduce, duplicate, sell, resell, or commercially exploit the Site or any portion of it without our prior written consent.
  • Interfere with the Site's security or normal operation, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or probe for vulnerabilities other than through a coordinated disclosure to editor@lyricstribe.com.
  • Frame, mirror, or embed the Site or any part of it in a way that obscures or misrepresents the source.

Violations may result in immediate account termination and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement.

Intellectual property

Our content

The LyricTribe name, logo, design, editorial writing (bios, meaning notes, behind-the-song, FAQs, blog articles), code, and all original arrangements on the Site are the intellectual property of LyricTribe and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.

You may share short quotations of our editorial writing with proper attribution and a link back to the source page. You may not copy substantial portions of our editorial writing onto other websites without written permission.

LyricTribe presents lyrics under the doctrine of fair use for the limited purposes of education, reference, criticism, and commentary. No transfer of copyright is intended or implied.

If you are a rightful copyright holder and believe content on the Site requires removal or different attribution, please follow our DMCA Policy.

Disclaimers

The Site and everything on it is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, LyricTribe disclaims all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

While we work hard on accuracy, we don't guarantee that:

  • The Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
  • All lyrics, translations, and editorial notes are completely accurate or current.
  • Any information on the Site will meet your specific needs.

See our Disclaimer page for the full text.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LyricTribe, its editors, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Site, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability to you for any cause of action arising out of these Terms or your use of the Site is limited to INR 1,000 (or its equivalent in your local currency).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LyricTribe and its editors, contributors, and service providers from any claim, demand, or damages (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your violation of any third party's rights.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site (or any account) at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Site ends immediately.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive — including Intellectual property, Disclaimers, Limitation of liability, Indemnification, and Governing law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You and LyricTribe submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India for any dispute arising under or related to these Terms — except where local consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the Site for at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
