Jubin Nautiyal was born on 14 June 1989 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. His father, Ram Sharan Nautiyal, is a politician and businessman, and his mother, Neena Nautiyal, is a businesswoman. He was drawn to music from early childhood, reportedly beginning to sing at the age of four, encouraged by a household where music was cherished. He studied at St. Joseph's Academy and Welham Boys' School in Dehradun, where he took music seriously as a subject and learned several instruments, including the guitar, piano, harmonium and drums.
