Who is Karan Aujla?

Karan Aujla is one of the biggest Punjabi singers, rappers and songwriters in the world. Born Jaskaran Singh Aujla on January 18, 1997, he broke through as a writer for other artists before becoming a global star in his own right. His 2023 album Making Memories reached number five on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart.

Early life

Aujla was born in Ghurala village, in the Ludhiana district of Punjab. He lost both parents by the age of nine and was raised by his sisters and uncle. He wrote his first song at thirteen, and music became both an outlet and a way forward.

Career beginnings

He started behind the scenes, writing songs for established singers such as Jassi Gill, Deep Jandu and Elly Mangat. His pen earned him a name before his voice did. In 2016 he stepped out as a lead artist with "Property of Punjab."

Breakthrough

His big moment came with "Don't Worry," featuring Gurlez Akhtar. The video passed a hundred million YouTube views and became his first entry on the UK Asian music chart. A steady run of hits followed, blending Punjabi folk with hip-hop and modern pop.

Making Memories and global reach

In 2023 Aujla released his second studio album, Making Memories, which debuted at number five on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. It paired summery Punjabi-pop with folk textures and synths, and confirmed him as a worldwide draw. He later relocated with his family to Dubai.
