Who is The Kidd?

The Kidd is an Indian music producer and composer from Mohali, Punjab, best known as the studio architect behind some of Sidhu Moose Wala's most consequential records — above all "295", the track whose dark, trap-laced Punjabi sound became a template for the modern Punjabi rap era. Working largely out of the spotlight, he has become one of the most respected beatmakers in Punjabi music's new wave.

Career beginnings

The Kidd began producing in the mid-2010s, landing his first commercial credit with "Daaru Di Capacity" in 2017. He built his name the producer's way — credit by credit across the Punjabi industry — working with artists including R Nait, Varinder Brar, Sabi Bhinder, Shivjot and Jordan Sandhu before his association with Sidhu Moose Wala lifted his profile to another level.

The Sidhu Moose Wala records

His defining work came with Sidhu Moose Wala. "295" — brooding, minor-key and built on heavy 808 sub-bass under Sidhu's unmistakable cadence — became one of the most influential Punjabi tracks of its generation, and its sound is still echoed across the scene. In April 2026, nearly four years after Sidhu's death, the pairing returned with the posthumous single Eyes On Me, reuniting The Kidd's production with the late superstar's vocals inside the very template the two helped define.

Sound and craft

The Kidd's signature is atmosphere: sparse trap drums, cinematic minor-key melody and low-end weight that leaves the vocal carrying the front of the mix. It is a sound built for Punjabi rap's blend of menace and melancholy, and it has been recognised internationally — he has been featured as an artist by FL Studio, the production software used by much of the global beatmaking community.

Beyond the underground

Since 2020 his credit list has widened across Punjabi music's mainstream, including work with major names such as Diljit Dosanjh and Himanshi Khurana, making him one of the scene's quiet constants — a producer whose fingerprints are on more hits than most listeners realise.

An evolving story

Like many producers, The Kidd keeps his personal life almost entirely private, and little about him beyond the work is publicly documented. His catalogue speaks instead. We will keep this page updated as more verified information becomes available.
