Pritam in 2025: the composer behind the year's biggest songs

In any given year, a few composers dominate the Hindi charts. In 2025, one name kept recurring across the biggest soundtracks: Pritam. From a spy blockbuster to an anthology romance to a sequel comedy, his melodies soundtracked a remarkable share of the year's most-played songs — confirming, again, his place as Bollywood's defining hit-maker.

War 2 and "Aavan Jaavan"

Pritam scored the songs for War 2, the 2025 Yash Raj Films action blockbuster. Its romantic centrepiece, "Aavan Jaavan", sung by Arijit Singh and Nikhita Gandhi with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, was released by YRF Music on 31 July 2025. Metro In Dino and the Anurag Basu reunion

Pritam's most ambitious 2025 project was Metro... In Dino, his reunion with director Anurag Basu on a 22-track soundtrack. It produced the Arijit Singh single "Qayde Se" and the devotion-soaked "Aur Mohabbat Kitni Karoon", among many others. The Basu-Pritam partnership, which began on Life in a... Cocktail 2 and the dance-floor side

Pritam also scored Cocktail 2, showing his range beyond ballads. The soundtrack's party anthem "Vallah" paired Punjabi-pop star Harrdy Sandhu with Nigerian Afrobeats singer Bayanni — a Bollywood-meets-Afrobeats collaboration — while "Tujhko" and "Jab Talak" returned to Arijit Singh's romantic register. Across one film, Pritam moved from Afrobeats fusion to classic Hindi melody without missing a step.

The breadth of one year

What is striking is how different these projects are from one another. War 2 needed a romantic oasis inside a spy thriller; Metro...
