Who is Pritam?
Pritam, born Pritam Chakraborty on 14 June 1971 in Kolkata, is one of the most successful and prolific music composers in Hindi cinema. After early years with the band Jal, he became Bollywood's go-to hitmaker, scoring an enormous run of soundtracks including Life in a Metro, Jab We Met, Barfi!, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Brahmastra (home to "Kesariya") and Animal.
A National Film Award winner with multiple Filmfare Awards, he is known for fusing global pop, rock and electronic textures with Indian melody — and for an ear for collaborators, having helped define the modern sound of Arijit Singh across countless hits. He composed the original Cocktail (2012) soundtrack, and returns for its 2026 sequel, where Vallah continues his habit of folding fresh global voices — here Nigeria's Bayanni — into Hindi film music.
