Who is Mahmood?
Mahmood, born Alessandro Mahmoud on 12 September 1992 in Milan, is one of Italy's most successful and distinctive pop stars. Of Italian-Egyptian heritage, he fuses Italian pop with Mediterranean, North African and urban-pop textures — a sound that won him the Sanremo Music Festival in 2019 with "Soldi" and again in 2022 with "Brividi" (alongside Blanco), taking him to the Eurovision Song Contest both times, where "Soldi" finished runner-up.
On Mashooqa from Cocktail 2 (2026), he steps into Hindi cinema for the first time: shot in Sicily, the track has Mahmood co-composing with Pritam and writing and singing its Italian portions — an Italy-meets-Bollywood fusion in the mould of the soundtrack's other global collaborations.
