Aashiqui 2 — Quick Facts
About Aashiqui 2 Movie Songs
Aashiqui 2 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the 2013 album that rewired Hindi film music. Released by T-Series on 3 April 2013 for Mohit Suri's romantic drama starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, it was composed principally by Jeet Gannguli, with guest composers Mithoon and Ankit Tiwari contributing two songs each and Irshad Kamil writing most of the lyrics. The trio shared the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director.
Its centrepiece is Tum Hi Ho — written and composed by Mithoon, sung by Arijit Singh — the ballad that turned a respected session voice into the defining playback singer of his generation and won him his first Filmfare Award. Singh voices six of the album's eleven tracks, including "Chahun Main Ya Naa", "Hum Mar Jayenge", "Meri Aashiqui", "Aasan Nahin Yahan" and "Milne Hai Mujhse Aayi", alongside Ankit Tiwari's "Sunn Raha Hai" and Shreya Ghoshal's female version. A decade on, it remains the template for the modern Hindi romantic soundtrack: sparse, piano-led, vocal-first.
